Homecoming 2022

Homecoming week is upon Olivet College and there is lots going on. Here is what you need to know: Homecoming will begin on Monday, Oct. 3, and will last through Saturday, Oct. 8. There will be ‘comet challenges,’ spirit days and other activities that go on for each day of the week that are put on by the Student Government Association (SGA). Activities include: A banner parade, on Wednesday, Oct. 5, check in starts at 5:45 p.m. and decorating is from 6-7 p.m. The banner theme this year is music, and you must supply your own decorating materials. There will be monetary prizes for first through third places. A pep rally, on Thursday, Oct. 6, at 8 p.m. at the Cutler Field. The rally will highlight fall sport teams and Greek Houses, introduce the homecoming court, and will announce winners of the comet challenge.

A homecoming parade from 11-11:30 a.m. that starts at campus and goes to the Cutler Field. Spirit days are: Monday: PJ Day Tuesday: Decades Wednesday: Vine/Memes Thursday: OC Spirit Friday: Superhero There will be a Comet Challenge put on by SGA each day, the challenges are: Monday: Window Painting Tuesday: Lip Sync/Dance Battle Wednesday: Scavenger Hunt Thursday: Obstacle Course/Relay

The top three teams will receive a monetary prize. Winners will be announced at the pep rally. There will be homecoming royalty, students that have nominated themselves with SGA are then voted on by the students of Olivet. There is one female and male representative for the freshman, sophomore and junior class and there will be multiple members for the senior class. The winners of the voting will be announced on Tuesday, Oct. 4, along with the final court members for the seniors.

The football game will be on Saturday, Oct. 8, at 2 p.m. versus the Kalamazoo Hornets. Alumni from Olivet College will be in attendance. “Olivet is really rooted in alumni, and so having them come back makes it a huge game,” said Sarah Lafoe, senior.
