    OLIVET, MI – The winter sports in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) had their first official day on Oct. 15.

    The OC women's basketball team scrimmages each other in front of a gym full of other students. The team was split in half into two and played two 5-minute halves.

    To kick off the beginning of the winter season, the Olivet College (OC) community came together to watch the basketball teams scrimmage each other and play a great number of games.

    Four students face off against each other in a toilet paper game to win a prize. In teams of two, students must wrap their teammates in toilet paper as much as possible before the time runs out.

    A week after the official start date of the winter season on Oct. 22, the Comets all gathered in the Cutler Event Center to participate in what was called, “Comet Night Madness.”

    OC students and staff gathered for a night of sports and games. With a goal of 50 people attending, the event over-delivered immensely.

    In between the women's and men's games, the students of OC rallied against school staff in a tug-of-war match. Many coaches, trainers, and other staff lost a close battle against a large group of their students running onto the court from the stands to help pull their fellow students to victory.

    The OC men's basketball team also split themselves into two teams to scrimmage each other. The men played a high scoring game that featured many dunks and alley-oops that got the crowd energy very high in the gym.

    In between halves and in between the women’s and men’s games, multiple games were played by various students in the audience.

    The OC cheer squad performed in front of the entire comet night madness crowd. Between the women's and men's games, the cheer squad took the court to perform their routine.
