Anime Recommendations

Looking for something new to binge watch? Some students have recommended their favorite anime (Japanese animation) to watch. Prior knowledge of these shows is not needed. 

 

 ●     Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion - Chris Long, sophomore journalism major

 

        -Long said, “It’s a very interesting story...it has an interesting ending and I feel like it’s a must-see. It’s really nice; it’s really well written, too.” 

        -Genres: Action, sci-fi, military, drama, mecha 

        -Rated R

●     The Rising of the Shield Hero – Adrian Geiger, sophomore graphic design and writing major

 

        -Geiger said, “The story and everything is really great...it’s just everything I really wanted in an anime I guess, as far as like story and character development and everything like that.”

●     Cowboy Bebop - Jacob Vickery, freshman risk management major

 

        -Vickery said, “It’s so great, the art style is great, the dub and sub cast are absolutely phenomenal there’s really no negatives to that show in my opinion.”

        -Musser said, “It’s just so sweet, it’s so cute...it brings to light kind of growing up, and just kind of learning to kind of accept things to change that you can’t really control.”

●     Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - Tori John, junior exercise science major 

 

        -John said, “There is a little bit of something for all viewers. The characters are diverse and well developed. The animation is clean and plays with different styles to accentuate humor. The plot is easy to follow and amazing.” 

        -Genres: Action, fantasy, comedy

        -Rated R

●     Sword Art Online - Leah Miller, junior writing and history double major

 

        -Miller said, “It’s a little bit of a controversial anime. People who love it REALLY love it and those who don’t REALLY don’t. However, I think it has an interesting story and is extremely enjoyable for people who are new to anime and those who have watched some before. It is not too complicated but also not too simple, so it can draw in different audiences.”

        -Genres: Action, fantasy

●     RWBY - Aaron Goudie, junior journalism major 

 

        -Goudie said, “I highly recommend the Western anime RWBY, created by Rooster Teeth. It stands out immediately from standard anime thanks to its unique three dimensional animation style.”
