School is starting and some Comets are struggling. No need to fret, Olivet, help is available. Peer tutoring has already started.
According to a flyer sent to the student body by Academic Accommodations Coordinator Joey Shepherd, 30-minute tutoring sessions are available for “accounting, business, biology, chemistry, computer science, math, psychology, sociology, and writing (for all classes).”
These tutoring sessions take place in the Student Success Center, located next to the Starbucks in Mott, according to the website.
The peer tutoring flyer also said, “To schedule an appointment, select Tutoring from the Quick Links on the left menu of the MyOlivetPortal.”
Junior Keely Cruz said, “[The tutors] were both willing to help with anything that I needed, whether it was APA format, MLA format, or just brainstorming different ideas of what to do.”
Senior and peer tutor Marah Heikkila said being a tutor “It’s really rewarding. I get to see people’s writing grow. I get to see them get more confident and help them feel more confident with their writing. I also love meeting new people and helping overall,” Heikkila said.
