The Marching Comets Are Going to Rome

Band members will perform at the “New Years in Rome” parade in Italy in 2020. The Comets were formally invited by the organization Youth Music of the World on Wednesday, Sept. 5. They will perform not only in the parade but throughout Rome. Participants will also travel to popular destinations and sample regional food, according to junior Abigale Smith, marching band drum major.

After the band’s similar performance in Paris, France in 2016, the international program reached out to Director of Bands Jeremy Duby for Olivet to participate in the program again.

All members and alumni of the band are invited to go. The approximate price to attend the trip is currently $2,400 before fund-raising.
