Student Media Leaders Named for 2018-2019

The new student leaders for the Echo, the Garfield Lake Review, and for WOCR have been chosen for the next academic year.

Freshman Alyssa Bergey, from Leroy, has been named editor of the ECHO, the award-winning student newspaper that has been publishing since 1888. Bergey, a journalism and mass communication major, has been serving as copy editor this year. She brings knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and basic reporting.

RaeNona Claramunt is the next editor of the Garfield Lake Review, the college’s literary and arts publication, which has been printing annually since 1971. Claramunt, a junior, is an English major with a minor in writing. Claramunt is an academictutor at Olivet, where she also works in the college archives. She is from Petoskey.

Junior Zackary Evans will be station manager for WOCR, 89.1, the college’s student radio station, which has been on the air since 1975. Evans, most recently from Detroit, transferred to Olivet from Marygrove College, and is an English major. He is also a member of Kappa Sigma Alpha.

These new leaders will be building teams to help support student media products. Any OC student is eligible to work forstudents media as a volunteer, or through a one-credit JMC 290 practicum.
