Tips to Stay Healthy in the Winter


Staying healthy is something that people ght for in life, and in some months, it is easy, but, staying healthy seems almost always harder come the winter months. Whether it’s the cold, or the drastic changes in weather, get- ting sick is almost something that is im- possible to avoid. Listed below are ve tips on ways that you can nd to stay healthier during the winter months.

1.) Take Preventative Measures

DC”, listed ways to stay healthy. One of these ways was by taking preventative measures.

This includes washing your hands, not touching your eyes, nose, and mouth, covering coughs and sneezes, and stay- ing away from people who are sick. “Use hand sanitizer after touching literally anything,” freshman Katie Murphy said when asked about staying healthy in the winter.

2.) Make Sure You Are Eating Well

According to the National Health Society, eating more fruits and vege- tables can help you stay healthy. If you can’t do that, then eat breakfast every day. Psychology Today talks about breakfast being the most important meal of the day, so it’s better to get up a little earlier to eat just a little some- thing before you start rushing into your daily life.

3.) Rest and Relaxation

The National Health Society talked about how getting a full eight hours of sleep to stay healthy. Along with sleep goes relaxation. The Hu ngton Post listed relaxation as a way to help the immune system. Too much stress on the body can raise the chances of get- ting sick, so take time out of your busy schedule for a little bit of me time and allow yourself to relax.

4.) Stay Warm

Psychology Today said dressing warmly is one of the best ways to protect yourself from getting ill. Dress appropriately for the weather, and not for fashion. “Make sure to wear coat and hat... stay warm,” freshman Tatum Oxford said about her own tips for staying healthy.

5.) Get That Vitamin D

While the National Health Society encourages you to go outside and soak up the sunshine to gather vitamin d, drinking milk or orange juice can also be a good way to go. You should at least try to let your body absorb that vitamin to become stronger and faster at ghting o illnesses.
