Games, Service, and Quizzes, Oh My!

With pledging happening through Feb. 3, pledges are on a 16-day journey to become a member of an Olivet College Greek Society. During this time, pledges will be seen “strutting around campus singing, chanting, and doing the traditional fun things each house does each year,” said Intersociety Council (ISC) president and fifth year senior Shelby Verlinde.

Bids for each house were available for students in the Student Life Office in Mott on Tuesday, Jan. 15 at 9 a.m. Bids had to be signed by the student and turned in to the Student Life Office by Jan. 18, which was the o cial beginning of pledging. Running Night happened at 8 p.m., where pledges, Greek members, alumni and supporters gathered to announce the pledge classes, hear speeches, and traditionally, participate in opening games.

Olivet has several events that pledges are able to participate in during the Pledging period, such as Quiz Bowl andvarious pledge games.

Quiz bowl will be on Friday, Jan. 25 at 4 p.m. in Mott Auditorium.

Pledge Service Day will be Saturday Jan. 26. All available pledges will be going to Port Austin accompanied by one ac-tive from each house, to perform service throughout the community.

Pledge games will be on Feb. 1. They begin at 7:30 p.m. in Upton Gym.
