The tennis teams are getting new tennis courts soon across the street from The Cutler Athletic Complex and behind Kings Auto at the corner ofMain and Butterfield.

Tennis coach Andrew Debruyn said there haven’t been any dates specified yet about when the new courts will be done. Debruyn also said that the current estimate points to early this spring once the weather permits. They then plan to break the ground and startlaying new concrete. Debruyn is hoping that this project will be done once the Fall semester begins.

Debruyn said that he is excited for these new courts to be built because he feels that they will create an opportunity for the teams to both competeand practice on campus.

Tyler Nobel, junior, and Benjamin Morrow, freshman both said that they are currently having outdoor practices at both Marshall High School and Harper Creek High. Nobel and Morrow also said that the majority of the spring practices and matches are played at Minges Creek Athletic Club in Battle Creek. Minges Creek has five indoor courts for the team to play on.

Assistant tennis coach is Stuart Noble. Currently on the men’s roster there are seven players including two seniors, one junior, two sophomores, and two freshmen. On the women’s side there are eight players listed, four juniors, two freshmen, one sophomore, and one senior. Spring play begins Feb. 9 for the women, and Feb. 15 for the men.
