Petitions to Stay on Campus During Breaks Now Available

The campus will close for two upcoming holiday breaks, which means that students who want to remain on campus must petition to do so. Those requests will be assessed by the Office of Student Life.

The Thanksgiving break begins Tuesday, Nov. 20, at 6 p.m. All residential students are required to vacate their residence hall, apartment, theme house or Greek house during designated closing periods.

For Winter Break, all residential students must be out of their residences by 6 p.m. Dec. 6. The campus closes completely down on Friday, Dec. 21.

When turning in a Petition to Stay, students are asked to give a detailed reason/argument as to why they need to remain on campus. If the reason is work, students will also need to submit employment confirmation from a supervisor, along with a copy of a work schedule. This must be turned in with your petition.

Anyone needing to stay past the 6 p.m. deadlines because of a ride issue (your ride will not get here until 7 or 8 p.m.) must fill out a petition and state that reason.

The Petition to Stay is available in the Student Life Office in Mott 208.
