Oaklawn Olivet Ready to Partner With Olivet College

A partnership between Oaklawn Olivet and Olivet College is in the beginning stages, according to Linda Logan, Vice President and Dean for Student Life.

Currently the Olivet College athletic department “...[Has] a partnership with Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall. Specifically, Dr. Kim McLean is our team physician. She is an orthopedic surgeon with a sports medicine background,” said Daniel Peterson, head athletic trainer.

According to both Peterson and Logan, the school is working with Oaklawn Olivet to make a more formal arrangement for all students on campus. According to Logan, as the school pursues a partnership, there are concerns regarding the small clinic’s ability to accept increased volume from the college. Recently, Oaklawn Olivet added several new staff members, making an active partnership more likely. This partnership could also include the Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall.

According to Oaklawn Olivet Practice Manager Kim Westlake, the practice added four new staff members in the past six months: Two family practitioners, one nurse practitioner and one physician assistant. Students and community members, can use Oaklawn Olivet for urgent care needs, sport physicals, and rehabilitation. If possible, Oaklawn will have students attend rehabilitation in Olivet, but the larger facility in Marshall will take rehabilitation patients as needed.

Oaklawn Medical Group in Olivet is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The phone number is 269-749- 2131. More information on Oaklawn Medical Group and Oaklawn Olivet is available on the website: www.oaklawnhospital.org.
