Comet football coach accepts new job

Olivet College football coach Dan Pifer has accepted the head coaching position for Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio.

Walsh University is a NCAA Division II school and went 3-8 during the 2016 season.

Pifer was in his fifth year of coaching for the Comets and lead the team to two Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) championships in the past two years.

This is the second time in Olivet’s history that a team has won back to back conference championships (1913-1914).

“We wish Dan and his family the best in this new opportunity, and we are thankful to him and the current coaching staff for leaving Comet football better than when he arrived,” said Olivet College President Steven Corey, Ph.D. in a prepared statement released on olivetcomets.com

Pifer finished his career with a 30-21 record overall.

Warren Maloney, is the associate head coach and defensive coordinator, and will be running all day-to-day operations for the comets.
