Freakshow Film Fest

October 28, 2016

Searching for the ultimate Halloween weekend party? Charlotte has it and Olivet College is providing free transportation to the Oct. 29 show.

The Freakshow Film Festival, which has been operating since July, is planning a Saturday red carpet premiere of the 2016 Lansing made horror show "The Third Day," followed by the classic "Halloween."

The party starts at 6 p.m. with a bonfire and dinner at Lincoln Park, courtesy of The Michigan Nordic Fire Festival. Movies begin at 10 p.m. at the historic Eaton Theater. Horror Host is Molotov the Demented Clown.

Student Life is offering transportation. Contact Jason Meadows, associate dean for Student Life, at for a seat. Cost is $5. Food and beverages will also be available.

Following the movies, patrons may present their theater ticket stub for exclusive admission to "The Third Day Movie Premiere Party," held down the block at The Hall, which will feature drinks, pizza, prizes for best costumes and horror trivia contests. Meet with the actors and director of "The Third Day." There will be prizes for scariest and most creative costumes, too.

According to the event’s Facebook page, "Freakshow Filmfest is a small underground effort to present to the public interesting and provocative horror and exploitation films." Movies are screened in Charlotte every other Saturday.

Comments on the page from fans include, "So much fun! Definitely worth the money, bring lots of friends," and "These shows have been so much fun. I enjoyed the classics and new/old shows I was not familiar with either. Fun relaxed atmosphere, neat people; my 20-year-old daughter, her friends and I have loved everyone!"
