What did you on Valentine’s Day weekend? Mu Omega Pi Fraternity toted about 50 packages of water from the Chicago area to Olivet, to eventually be delivered to the Flint water collection effort, an ongoing project of the campus Black Student Union.
Four Mu members, Nicholas Yeck, freshman, Miquel Marin, sophomore, Christopher Jones, junior, and Darryck Bradley, senior, drove more than seven hours to Mu brother and Olivet alumni Lamontriale Hale’s workplace, where Hale, Class of 2001, had collected water for the cause.
Fellow employees of the Woodlawn Department of Human Services of Illinois were ready to support the Comet effort, and happy to greet the red college van and fill it up.
“It was great to spend time with one of our founding members,” said Marin. “He even made us breakfast.”
The campus BSU water drive goes through March 29. Water will then be delivered as part of the College’s annual spring Service Day. This will be the BSU’s second trip to Flint with water donations.
