Men and women's soccer teams help fight the battle

Both the men's and women's soccer teams came up with wins against Trine today, Oct. 24. But it was what happened off the field in Olivet that made the day.

Both teams held special events on this Brest Cancer Awareness game day. The field was lined in pink, the team's donned pink T-shirts, and the men's winning goal was apropos.

The event was being held in a special way for two soccer mom's battling cancer. One son, Gregory Petty, a senior, scored the lone goal for Olivet to blank Trine in its noon match.

Later, the women went on to beat Trine 4-0. While the windy, wet fall weather played havoc with fans and players, few left the stands, where food and items were sold to raise money to fight the battle against breast cancer.

Men's soccer moms and breast cancer survivors Donna Petty and Diana Terry were special honorees.
