Chartwells’ Cindy Clark awarded trip to Florida

Chartwells employee Cindy Clark, of the Kirk Center cafeteria, was awarded a trip to Orlando, Florida in the Be-A-star Program for exemplifying business excellence on Sept. 15.

Chartwells states on their website, the Be-A-star program began in 1997 and has become a primary way to observe and award employees from over 550 schools for business excellence and going above and beyond.

Cindy Clark was chosen out of thousands of employees across the nation for this award by doing more than what is just required and going out of her way to guarantee to ensure satisfaction from the students.

According to the Chartwells School Dining Services Magazine, “Be-A-star awards are given to school districts and associates that exemplify business excellence in school foodservice and go above and beyond the call of duty.” The magazine explains, “Employees are evaluated from August – July on criteria such as community service, financial performance, customer and client satisfaction, wellness and diversity.”

Clark wanted to thank her co-workers and students for this award. “ I would not have had this opportunity without such awesome people around me. Everyone helps one another and that makes me want to do better.” Clark said. “I really owe it to these amazing students for making the job so easy to come to everyday.”

The new Food Services Director, Eric Young, felt Clark was very deserving of the award and said, “It is really the employees that make the environment so inviting and friendly. Cindy really knows the students and that truly shows in her work.”
